Transgender
Sasha Allen was the only transgender openly performing artist to have made it through all the Battle Rounds of The Voice Live Shows. That has been the case for the past 21 seasons. Sasha Allen and Jim Newtown, Conn. duo are now part of the top 8 of the contest! Sasha confessed that he's transgender when they were preparing their entry for the Blind Auditions, and he said to Parade.com that it was a decision that required thought and careful consideration. Sasha said it was hard to decide because he had to showcase a fragile side of himself the presence of millions. He transitioned when he was still in high school. "But [last week during fan week], seeing people's reactions to and support for the show as well as the impact it has had on the people showed the decision was worthwhile and was the right choice, regardless of the fact that it was hard to come up with." "'Have You Ever Seen the Rain' is a song that has been on a list of songs that we'd wanted to be a part of The Voice for quite a lengthy time," Sasha told Parade.com. The song was played before The Voice even existed. This was an incredible surprise. We had heard of the song and had some ideas of how to arrange it. I was amazed at how much the fans struck the nail on their head."
