Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell was an actress on television, ex-chef in the Institute of Culinary Education and formerly teaches cooking. She is the host of The Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and is co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, a Food Network host who has spiky blond wigs and a pumped-up personality, explains how you can cook dishes that are restaurant quality at home using simple methods. Chef Burrell has worked in several of the most prestigious restaurants in New York, studied the culinary landscape and traditions of Italy as well as competed on the Food Network's Iron Chef America. Early on, while living in the New York's Upstate region, Burrell became passionate about food and cooking. The Culinary Institute of America was the next stage for her following her graduation with a Bachelor of Arts in English as well as Communications in the fall of 2004 from Canisius College Buffalo NY. She states "I enjoyed being a Culinary Institute of American student. I was awed by every moment." The Culinary Institute of the Americas was a fantastic location to learn. After graduating, Burrell worked at La Bottega del 30 in Tuscany as well as La Taverna del Lupo (in Umbria) during her time at Umbria. She also attended the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. The time she spent in Italy helped her to understand and appreciate the Italian way of life and its culture and has made an impact on her own perception of food. Burrell is a part of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which helps brighten the lives of children facing difficulties. She also serves as a Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation celebrity ambassador, where she is an advocate for juvenile diabetes awareness. Burrell is often a guest presenter at conferences, and she travels across the nation to mentor others in her task. Anne has always been grateful she could share the passion of her life, sharing her cooking skills with other people.
