Both of his parents are missionaries. In his early years Baker traveled a lot together. James Colson Baker suffered from depression, and was unemployed and Sonia Alane abandoned them at the age of nine. Baker and his dad moved to Denver, where they lived at the house of his dad's aunt. Baker was bullied because that he was poor by the other kids. After he was in the sixth grade, Baker began to study the art of rap. Colson Kelly was born Machine Gun Kelly on April 22nd, 1989 in Texas. His songs are known for their ability as a blend of contemporary hip-hop and rock music and alternative music. Baker released four mixtapes prior to signing to Bad Boy Records between 2007-2010. With lyrics that are as fast of a bullet train this Cleveland artist experienced a remarkable rise in late 2011 when he made the transition from cranking out self-released mixtapes to working on reputable labels. In the following years, every album he released charted at number 10.
